What does the Steam Turbine do?

The Steam Turbine is a late-game Energy building. For every Steam pixel that passes through it, the current Official Wiki says it generates 10 Energy and converts that Steam into Depleted Steam.

The Turbine needs an Energy Connector to send generated power to a battery that still has capacity.

What should you do with Depleted Steam?

Depleted Steam behaves like a gas and rises, but it does not turn into rain when it reaches the Sky. Route it into a Condenser to convert it back into Water.

That gives you a useful loop:

Water → Steam → Steam Turbine → Depleted Steam → Condenser → Water

You still need heat to create Steam and a valid power-storage path for the generated Energy.

Why is the Turbine producing no useful power?

Check these in order:

1. Steam is actually passing through the Turbine.
2. The Turbine is connected to a battery through an Energy Connector.
3. The battery has free capacity.
4. Depleted Steam has somewhere to leave.
5. You are feeding regular Steam rather than trying to reuse Depleted Steam without condensing and reheating it.

When can you unlock it?

The current Research page lists the Steam Turbine as a Tier 5 unlock with a 3,000 Gold research cost.

That is a research unlock cost, not a construction material cost. The Research page is marked WIP, so recheck the in-game Research tab after major updates.
