How to Get Infinite Water in Sandustry
Use the two currently documented renewable Water routes in Sandustry: Cryoblaster Snow-to-rain loops and captured Lumlings.
Cryoblaster: Snow to Steam to Rain
The renewable Cryoblaster route is:
Cryoblaster → Snow → Fire → Steam → Sky → rain → Water
The current Official Wiki says a Cryoblaster can produce Snow indefinitely. Snow heated by Fire becomes Steam, and Steam that reaches the Sky condenses back into Water and falls as rain.
This route needs a clear path upward. Steam rises until it hits a ceiling; with an open route it can continue to the Sky and return as rain.
Lumlings: Renewable Water in Regular Bursts
Lumlings are underground critters that release Water in regular bursts. The current Lumling page records up to 12 Water every 6–10 seconds and says more Lumlings increase total production.
They only produce Water when there is space around them. A Lumling submerged in liquid or surrounded by gas will stop producing, so give the release area room and collect the Water below it.
A Corraller can capture and relocate critters after you unlock it.
Why Official Sources Sound Contradictory
The current Official Wiki is not perfectly consistent:
- the Water page describes rain from Cryoblaster-produced Snow as a way to create infinite Water;
- the Snow page calls Cryoblaster Snow a renewable Water source;
- the Lumling page calls Lumlings the only infinite Water source in the world.
Because those pages conflict on terminology, the safest practical conclusion is that both routes are renewable, while exact long-run output and what the developers intend the word “infinite” to mean should not be overstated.
What Water Is Consumed By
Two high-value production reactions are currently documented:
1 Sand + 1 Water → 2 Wet Sand1 Seed + 1 Water → 1 Wet Seed
That is why a renewable Water setup matters even if your early natural pools look large.
Which Route Should You Use?
Use the route that matches your current progression and layout.
- Cryoblaster loop: useful when you can generate Snow and provide a clear Steam path to the Sky.
- Lumlings: useful when you can capture critters and reserve an open collection chamber.
- Natural pools: still useful as buffers, but they are finite unless replenished by a renewable source.
